There is a misprint in the book on page Page 203, point 7:
"Bind the ImageSource property... ElementName=ComboBox" where it should be the name we have given the ComboBox, which is: "myCB". So the Binding expression should read: ElementName=myCB

I sent a little thank you email to Luba Sirakova who wrote the glowing review of my book (click here to read it) . She promptly emailed me back and had this to say:

"I am happy you are happy with its review. Honestly, we do really speak our mind on how we find a book when reviewing it. I'm saying we don't praise authors and try to be as critical and realistic as possible. I really liked your style of writing and approach to readers. I could say rarely I am presented a topic with such great ease for the reader to accept, gradually from the ground up and still with a permanent good tempo that keeps the interest growing. I am impressed also by the neat structure of the content."

She then went on to ask me if I would like to write articles for their premium content portals. It was an honor to say the least. I am not sure if I am going to do it but I will keep you posted.

The first review of the book is out!! A friend sent me this URL, it is a glowing review of my book from DMXZone magazine. The reviewer says of the book, "It is excellent to serve as both a reference book and a learning material. " She also says, "While unfolding the content, the author uses a friendly mentor-like approach, covering all elements with care in explanation and detail."

This review tells me that readers can take away exactly what I was hoping for: a book that shows how to build WPF/SL applications with hands-on tutorials from a friendly, over-your-shoulder teacher. Needless to say, I am very happy and excited about this review. You can read the entire review Here.

The book came out today and can be found on Amazon.com. The bio is wrong on Amazon but you can still order the book now. The book will be available in stores on the official release date of April 7, 2008.

I cannot tell you how it felt to finally get a printed copy of the book in my hands; the sense of pride and accomplishment were almost overwhelming. It was a tremendous amount of work and I spent the last 7 months of Saturdays and Sundays crammed in my home office writing and totally neglecting my beautiful wife Shay and my three amazing kids, Brianna, Tristan and Luke.

I actually spent the weekend reading the book and it really is a great book for WPF and Silverlight beginners, so if you want to get into the new, cutting edge technology this book is a perfect place to start. In fact, if you do get the book you will have a hand full of WPF/Silverlight applications that me and my company would be interested in seeing and possible employment by us could be the end result. So, if you are looking for a high-paying job developing in WPF and/or Silverlight and have made it through the book shoot me an email so I can check out what you have done ( wpfauthor at gmail dot com)
